Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage has developed over the years from an ancient ayurvedic healing practice that originates over a thousand years ago in India. Generations of women would massage each others scalps with herbs and oils to improve the condition and lustre of the hair and treat scalp conditions.

This treatment has now evolved to include the upper back, neck, scalp and face, working on a deeply holistic level to encourage healing of the mind, body and spirit.

A full treatment takes place seated and may be done fully clothed, or with the bare shoulders revealed to include the use of oil. Pure Coconut will most often be used for it's moisturing properties and benefits to the hair and scalp. A treatment may also include a marma point face massage, easing sinus and headache conditions, draining the lymphatic system and re-balancing the chakra system and grounding the energy.

Indian Head Massage works on the belief that blockages in our energy system will have an adverse effect on our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Massaging the upper half of the body can help remove the blockages to allow energy to flow smoothly bringing the mind body and soul back in to balance.

Benefits of Indian Head Massage may include improved circulation, aids with detoxification, promotes lymphatic drainage and encourages meantal clarity and alertness. A course of treatments may also bring relief from the following:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Tension headaches
  • Sinnusitis
  • Tinnitus and other ear conditions
  • Insomnia
  • Hair Loss
  • Muscle tension, aches and pains
  • Eye strain
